Petr Kozák - CV

Petr Kozák graduated from the Systems Control Department, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University, Prague, and received Ing. degree (corresponds to M.S. in E.E.) in 1985. In 1990, he received CSc. degree (corresponds to PhD) from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences.

In 1985-86, he was with the Research Institute of Mathematical Machines, Prague, Czechoslovakia. In 1992-93, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow with the Systems Control Group, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada under the supervision of Prof. W.M. Wonham. Currently, he is a member od research staff of the Institute of Information Theory and Automation of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic.

He received two grants from the Czech Academy of Sciences (No. 27502 Modelling and Control of Discrete Event Systems, 1991-92 and No. 27558 Real-Time Intelligent Control: Discrete Event Models and Algorithms, 1992-94) as a principal investigator. He was an editor (with S. Balemi and R. Smedinga) of a book Discrete Event Systems: Modeling and Control, Birkhäuser, Basel, Switzerland, 1993. His experience includes work on a research contract with the Czechoslovak Power Network Control Center. He served as the chairman of Organizing Committee of the Joint Workshop on Discrete Event Systems (WODES'92), Prague, Czechoslovakia.

Petr Kozák is a member of the IEEE, the Council of the Czech Society for Cybernetics and Informatics, the IFAC Technical Committee for Discrete Event Systems, and the IFIP TC 8. He has been a technical reviewer of the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Journal Discrete Event Dynamic Systems: Theory and Applications, IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, American Control Conference, European Control Conference, IFAC Congress, and various workshops and conferences.

His research interest is in modelling and control of discrete event and hybrid systems, and software engineering.
